Customer FAQs

  • Do you offer landscape maintenance after installation?

Yes! We offer seasonal cleanups, fine pruning, mulching, leaf removal, and ongoing garden maintenance for both projects we've installed and existing gardens. Whether you need a onetime reset or a recurring schedule, we can put together a plan that keeps your space looking the way it should.

  • What areas do you serve?

We serve Seattle and the surrounding communities including Green Lake, Greenwood, Ballard, Phinney Ridge, Shoreline, Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond, Sammamish, and Kenmore. Not sure if you're in our service area? Give us a call!

  • What's the difference between a garden refresh and a full yard renovation?

A garden refresh is for a space that's gotten away from you: overgrowth, crowded beds, plants that need reshaping. We come in, clean it up, and get it back to where it should be. A full yard renovation is for when the layout itself isn't working. Drainage problems, a design that never came together, or a yard you want to start over. Renovations involve clearing, regrading, and rebuilding from the ground up.

  • What makes Seattle Gardening Co. different from other landscapers?

Our background is in horticulture, not just construction. That means we make plant and design decisions based on how things actually grow in the Pacific Northwest: the soil, the rainfall, the dry summers. We're not applying a generic template to your yard. We're looking at your specific site and making decisions that will hold up over time.

  • Do you use native Pacific Northwest plants?

Yes, and we prioritize them wherever they fit the design. Native species are adapted to Seattle's climate, require less intervention, support local pollinators, and tend to perform better long-term than plants that weren't bred for this region. We'll always tell you what we're recommending and why.

  • Do you build and maintain water features?

Water features are one of our favorite things to build! We design and install custom ponds, streams, pondless waterfalls, and water bowls using Aquascape systems, the industry standard for water feature construction. We also offer year-round water feature maintenance including spring openings, fall cleanings, water treatments, and equipment checks. A well-built water feature should be something you enjoy, not something you worry about.

  • How does the process work after I reach out?

We'll schedule a site visit to walk the property with you, understand what's bothering you about the current space, and get a sense of what you're looking for. From there we put together a proposal with a clear layout, plant selections, materials, and scope. Once you approve it, we schedule the work. No surprises.

  • Do you do the work yourselves or subcontract?

We handle our projects with our own crew. You're not going to get a different team showing up than the one you talked to.

  • What's a typical timeline for a landscape installation?

It depends on the scope. A planting installation or garden refresh can often be completed in a day or two. A full yard renovation with hardscaping, patios, retaining walls, drainage work, typically runs one to three weeks. We give you a realistic timeline in the proposal before any work starts.

  • Do you offer free consultations?

We offer complimentary site visits! We come to you, walk the property, and talk through what you're working with. There's no obligation, and it's the only way to give you an honest sense of what's possible and what it would cost.
